Privacy Policy

1. Overview
At ShowUp, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Platform.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Personal Information
We collect information you provide directly to us, such as your email address and payment method details (processed securely via Stripe). We use Clerk for authentication. If you sign in with Facebook, ShowUp requests access to your email address only; Clerk provides ShowUp with your email address and Clerk user ID so we can create your account, sign you in, prevent abuse, and support account-related requests.
2.2 Location Data
To facilitate the "Tour on Demand" model, we collect data about your city and region. This is essential to aggregate demand and signal to artists where their fans are located.
2.3 Public Visibility & Anonymity
Your privacy is paramount. While we may display recent pledge activity on the Platform (e.g., in a "Live Ticker"), we never expose your real email address or full name to other users. We use unique, anonymized "Handles" and generic avatars for all public-facing interactions to protect your identity.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected data for several purposes:
-
To Facilitate Pledges: To process your financial commitments and notify you of show confirmations.
-
To Help Artists Tour: We provide artists and promoters with aggregated, non-identifiable demand curves to help them plan tours efficiently.
-
Communication: To send you updates about your favorite artists and the status of your pledges.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We only share your information in the following circumstances:
Show Materialization
When a show is materialized and a ticket is issued to you, your name and contact information are shared with the event promoter and venue for access control and event management purposes.
5. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data. Payment information is handled exclusively by Stripe, and we do not store sensitive credit card details on our own servers.
6. Your Rights Under GDPR
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You can request a copy of your data or request account deletion from Account Settings. If you cannot access your account, contact us at hello@showup.fans.
-
Right of access (Article 15): request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
-
Right of rectification (Article 16): request correction of inaccurate personal data.
-
Right to erasure (Article 17): request deletion of your account and personal data.
-
Right to data portability (Article 20): download your data in machine-readable form from your account settings.
-
Right to restriction (Article 18): request that we restrict processing of your personal data.
-
Right to object (Article 21): object to processing based on legitimate interests.
7. Lawful Basis for Processing
8. Data Retention
When you delete your account, your direct identifiers (email address and location) are removed after a 30-day recovery window. Financial and operational records — including pledge history and payment ledger entries — may be retained where required by law or legitimate business obligations (7 years per accounting requirements). Anonymized demand aggregates are retained indefinitely.
9. Data Controller
Show Up is the data controller for personal data processed through this platform. Contact: hello@showup.fans.
