Venue Certification

Become a verified venue on ShowUp

Venue Certification confirms that you represent a real venue and unlocks progressively more capabilities as your business identity is verified.

Our goal is to keep demand intelligence accurate while making commercial negotiations more trustworthy for artists, promoters, and venues.

Why certification exists

ShowUp is built around commercial collaboration.

Artists, promoters, and venues rely on the information they see when deciding whether to pursue a show.

Certification helps ensure that:

  • venues are represented by authorized people
  • demand intelligence reaches the right organizations
  • commercial negotiations involve verified participants
  • settlements are paid to legitimate businesses

Progressive Certification

Certification happens in three independent steps. Each step unlocks additional capabilities.

Step 1

Website Verification

Purpose

Verify that you control your venue's official website.

How it works

We provide a unique verification token. You can verify ownership by adding a meta tag to your homepage or uploading a verification file under /.well-known/.

Once verified, ShowUp confirms that you control the website already associated with your venue.

Unlocks

  • Verified venue profile
  • Venue dashboard
  • Create Logical Offers

Step 2

Google Business

Optional

Google Business helps corroborate your public business identity. Although optional, it increases confidence that your venue information is accurate.

Unlocks

  • improved venue trust indicators
  • faster manual review when needed

Step 3

Stripe Business Verification

KYB

Required before your venue can receive money.

Stripe verifies:

  • legal business identity
  • beneficial owners
  • payment account
  • compliance requirements

ShowUp never performs its own Know Your Business verification. Stripe handles this process securely.

Required for

  • Accepting Commercial Agreements
  • Receiving settlements
  • Participating in ticketing

Your Data

We collect only the information necessary to verify your business and operate the platform.

Website verification tokens are used solely to confirm ownership.

Business verification is performed by Stripe using their secure onboarding flow.

ShowUp does not store identity documents submitted during Stripe verification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need to verify my website?

Website verification confirms that you represent the organization behind the venue. This allows us to safely provide access to demand intelligence and commercial collaboration tools.

What if my venue doesn't have a website?

You can still submit a claim. Claims without an official website may require manual review before access is granted.

What if the website listed for my venue is incorrect?

You can request a website correction during the claim process. Our team may request additional evidence before updating the venue record.

Can multiple people manage the same venue?

Yes. After a venue has been claimed, administrators can invite additional team members with different permission levels.

Why is Google Business optional?

Not every venue maintains an active Google Business Profile. Website ownership is generally sufficient to establish control over the venue.

Why is Stripe required later?

Many venues simply want access to demand intelligence. Stripe verification is only necessary once money will flow through ShowUp. This keeps onboarding lightweight while ensuring regulatory compliance before ticketing or settlements begin.
